What pump.fun is
pump.fun lets anyone create a coin on Solana and gives everyone the same access to buy and sell from the start. Creating a coin has no platform fee: you pay the network fee and the small deposit the network needs. A coin trades on a bonding curve, then graduates to its own pool, for a 0.015 SOL graduation fee.
On the curve, every trade pays 1.25%: 0.30% to the creator and 0.95% to the protocol. After graduation, the creator's share follows the coin's market cap: 0.30% for small coins, 0.95% in the next band, then stepping down to 0.05% for the largest ones. A creator can also send rewards to holders or to a charity instead of their own wallet. Around the coin, pump.fun offers livestreams and paid content bounties, and an optional Mayhem mode in which a bot trades the coin for its first 24 hours.
What it does not do is make the coin a face. Attention is up to the creator and the community.

The fees, trade by trade

- pump.fun: the trader pays $12.50 in fees. The creator gets $3.00 and the protocol $9.50.
- CLOUT: the trader also pays 1.25% in total: CLOUT's 1% fee plus the venue's 0.25%. Of the $10 CLOUT fee, the creator gets $4.00, the cloutsi's own treasury $2.00, $2.00 buys back and burns $CLOUT and $2.00 goes to the platform.
So on the curve the CLOUT creator's share is a little larger, and another 20% goes to a character whose job is to keep the coin in front of people. After graduation, pump.fun's creator share moves with market cap, so compare at the size you expect. A coin nobody trades pays nothing on either.

A coin with no story fades fast. Many creators on any launchpad end up posting, filming and answering holders themselves to keep a coin alive.
